Leather Care

General precautions for cleaning and maintenance:

  • Avoid strong chemical cleaners: Do not use bleach, strong acids, strong alkalis, solvents, polishes, waxes, stain removers, and alcohol, as these can cause leather to harden, fade, or crack.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures: Direct sunlight and high heat sources (such as heaters) can cause leather to fade, dry out, and crack.
  • Pay attention to moisture: Leather, especially genuine leather, is very sensitive to water. Avoid wiping with a completely damp cloth and ensure the environment is well-ventilated and dry. Sweat can also damage leather; wipe it off promptly.

1. Daily Dusting

Method: Regularly use a vacuum cleaner (with a soft brush head), duster, or clean dry cloth to remove dust, hair, and dander from surfaces and crevices.

2. Minor Stain Treatment

Leather Sofa:

When food stains (such as coffee or soy sauce) get on the sofa, do not wipe directly with a damp cloth to avoid penetrating the leather. First, absorb the stain with a dry cloth.

Then, use a wrung-out soft cloth or sponge dampened with a leather cleaner or diluted neutral detergent (such as diluted dish soap or soapy water) to gently wipe the stain.

After wiping, immediately dry with a dry cloth and ensure good ventilation.

Applying Leather Conditioner

Purpose: To maintain the suppleness and shine of the leather and prevent dryness and cracking.

Frequency: Approximately once every six months. During dry seasons , the frequency can be slightly increased, but not too frequently, as this may clog the leather pores.

Method:

First, thoroughly clean the dust and dirt from the sofa surface.

1. Apply an appropriate amount of leather conditioner/care agent to a dry cotton cloth.

Gently and evenly apply the oil to the sofa surface using the cloth, using circular motions in either clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

Do not apply a thick layer or too much.

After application, it is recommended to let the leather sit for half a day to a day (or 5-6 hours) to allow the leather to fully absorb the conditioner before use.

2. Humidity Control

Leather is susceptible to both moisture and excessive dryness.

Humid Environment: Maintain good ventilation; a dehumidifier can be used to prevent mold growth.

Dry Environment: In dry and cold weather, the frequency of applying the conditioner can be increased appropriately.
